The owners of the Wopsononock Resort added new picnic grounds, located directly across the railroad from the Wopsononock Hotel, for the use of picnic parties during the 1898 season.

Although difficult to see, the photo of the grounds shows a sign reading “Sunday School Excursion & Picnic Grounds” and swing sets.
