On June 11, 1891, the Altoona & Wopsononock Railroad left the Juniata station and slowly climbed to the top of Wopsononock Mountain for the first trip carrying passengers. Local newspapers described this initial run as taking 55 minutes. Why so long a ride? The train schedule including the eight station stops shown below may explain the nearly one hour trip to the mountain top.
