Locomotives purchased when the railroad was narrow-gauge were never heavy enough for the mountain’s steep grade. After the railroad added a third standard-gauge rail in 1916, it used some geared locomotives.  101-103 were 2-6-0 while the last three, 104-106 were Heisler geared locomotives.
