On June 23, 1914, First Lutheran Church, 12th Ave., Altoona had its annual summer picnic at the Wopsononock Resort. Transportation to the mountain top was provided by the Wopsy Railroad, which pulled out from the Juniata station promptly at 9:00 a.m. The returning train departed promptly at 6:15 p.m. from Wopsy.

The Wopsy RR photo is one of four prints from a collection of 4-4×5 negatives in the Altoona Area Public Library files. The others are the Wopsy Hotel, with lawn tennis in the front yard, and one of each of the two Hotel dining rooms. All four were printed in my home B&W darkroom.
